Mosjøen is a traditional trading centre in Helgeland and an important industrial town.

The largest industry working place in Vefsn, is Alcoa Mosjøen, one of the leading aluminium smelting plants, with more than 300 employees.

Several small and medium companies with their working field away from the local society, are established here in Mosjøen. The county road (FV) 78 binds Mosjøen closer to the offshore industry on the Helgeland coast.

Mosjøen harbour is a crossing point for traffic from both north and south. The routs via Island make it possible to connect with the rest of Europe and the USA, and make the harbour one of Northern Norway’s largest container harbours. http://www.mosjoenhavn.no/ipub/

Emplacements are cleared and ready for use near Mosjøen. A new, larger emplacement area is made ready in Holandsvika, about 12 km northwest of Mosjøen near the road to Sandnessjøen. This area includes a quay and railway connection.
